Foster/Companion Care

What is Foster/Companion Care?

Foster/Companion Care is a community living service that is just one of the many services offered under the state Medicaid funded program called Home and Community Based Services, or HCS. The HCS program was created to provide individualized services for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities that are living with their family, in their own home, or in other community settings.

Living with a Foster Care Family is a good choice for many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Whether individuals choose their own family member as a foster care provider or the individual chooses another foster family, it's a rewarding and meaningful experience for all those involved. A warm family environment with individualized care is the perfect place to call home.

D&S is a family-centered organization that was born out of a personal need of one of its founders. After almost 20 years, D&S still provides a family-focused service based on the goals and philosophies on which it was established.
